14 November 2023, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa dispatched a team to Moncton, New Brunswick for a consular outreach mission on 11-12 November 2023. This is the Philippine Embassy’s first and only consular outreach mission to the Province for the year 2023.

A total of 409 services were rendered, which includes passport application, legalization, civil registry and dual citizenship applications. Of the 409 services, a total of 203 passport applications were processed, including passport applications of more than a hundred minors

There were also 38 qualified individuals who took their oath of allegiance under the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003 or more commonly known as the Dual Citizenship Law (R.A. 9225).

Representatives from the Migrant Workers Office-Toronto joined the outreach to provide labor-related services and conduct site inspection of selected employers in the Province.

The team, in coordination with the Filipino Association of New Brunswick, also met with key Filipino community members in a mini town hall meeting and provided briefings on consular and MWO services, and on Winter Escapade 8.

Those who attended the mini town hall meeting commented that Filipinos have become more visible in the last few years as more families and international students choose the province to settle in. Filipinos can be found in the food industry, caregiving, and banking sectors.

The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa holds consular jurisdiction over New Brunswick, which is home to 5,190 Filipinos.

Aside from Filipinos in New Brunswick, Filipinos from the neighboring maritime province of Prince Edward Island were also served by the mission.

The consular outreach mission is part of the Embassy’s efforts to bring its services closer to Filipinos outside of Ottawa. END
