PR 58 2023 Philippine Embassy Celebrates 2023 FRMC

April 2023, Ottawa – During the Filipino Food Month and Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC), the Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia Fischer hosted contacts from Global Affairs Canada, Canada Border Services Agency, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as new acquaintances at two known Filipino restaurants in Ottawa, namely Tamis Café and Lola’s Kitchen. DHM Fischer thanked the Filipino restaurant owners Kim Epino of Lola’s Kitchen and Lito and Liza Sare of Tamis Café for participating in this year's FRMC. Both restaurants offer Filipino food catering and are particularly known for kamayan-style feasts.

Tamis Café is a Filipino fine dining restaurant which features unique Filipino dishes, savoury menu choices, specialty desserts, and exotic cocktails. It is located on Bank Street in the heart of Centretown.

Lola’s Kitchen’s owner Kim Epino, inspired by his Lola (grandmother) and with his passion for cooking, put a fresh spin on her grandmother’s recipes and brought the beloved Filipino food to Ottawa residents. Lola’s Kitchen, located at Somerset, is a great spot for friends or family for a dinner get-together with an “at home” atmosphere.

The FRMC is Philippine Posts in Canada’s Common Cultural Calendar Project spearheaded by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism – San Francisco and Department of Trade and Industry.  For the entire month of April, select Filipino restaurants in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and beyond offered prix fixe menus.
