The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, through Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III, called on Executive Director Jamie Aiken from the Office of Immigration of Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) at the latter's office in Charlottetown on 16 September 2022. Labor Representative Rachel Zozobrado-Nagayo from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Toronto and P.E.I. Immigration's Employer Outreach Officer Teresa Tu were likewise present.
During their meeting, Fernandez recalled P.E.I.'s effort to attract more Filipino enployees to meet the human resources requirements of P.E.I. companies. He shared best practices adopted by other jurisdictions, both within Canada and in other countries, which facilitated the recognition of credentials of Filipino employees in the hope that the P.E.I. provincial government will support the Credential Recognition in Canada (CRC) Project of Philippine Posts in Canada (PPC).
PPC and P.E.I. are currently exploring bilateral labor cooperation mechanisms which seek to address the concerns of both Filipino and Canadian governments and the prospective Filipino employees.
PPC is composed of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulates General in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.
