Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles conducted his first official visit to the Maritime province of Nova Scotia from 27 October to 2 November 2021.
In his meeting with Lieutenant Governor Arthur Joseph LeBlanc at Nova Scotia’s Government House, Ambassador Robles shared updates on the Philippines’ COVID-19 response. Noting their shared legal background, Ambassador Robles shared with Lieutenant Governor LeBlanc information on the work of the Philippine Ombudsman and efforts to draft a federal constitution for the country.
In his meeting with Premier Tim Houston at Nova Scotia’s Province House, Ambassador Robles congratulated Premier Houston on his recent election and highlighted the contribution of the Filipino community in Nova Scotia to their adopted community. He noted their important work in the province’s healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Premier Houston agreed with Ambassador Robles’ observations on the importance of healthcare in Nova Scotia and the contribution of the Filipino diaspora. He expressed interest in exploring areas of cooperation with the Philippines on this subject as this is a priority for his administration.
