The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa supported the recent Induction, Promotion, and Awarding Ceremony of the 209.5th Division of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), the pioneering and only overseas unit of PCGA. The ceremony took place at Mindanao Hall of the Embassy’s Chancery Building on 12 September 2021.
The hybrid ceremony was presided from Cebu City by the Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas District Commander, Rear Admiral Jose William Isaga, while the volunteers from the 209.5th Division were assembled in Ottawa, Canada.
During the ceremony, the PCGA volunteers were donned their honorary ranks and received merit medals for their various activities in support of the PCGA mission of promoting maritime awareness and protection, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles remarked: “We will continue to promote volunteerism among the ranks of the Filipino diaspora across Canada, including the mission of the 209.5th Division of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary to promote awareness on maritime protection and management.”
