28 August 2021, Montreal – As the Province of Quebec loosened restrictions on public gatherings, the Embassy of the Philippines in Ottawa conducted a Town Hall Meeting with Filipino community leaders in Montreal. This was the first in-person meeting of Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles with the Filipino diaspora in Canada since he assumed office in October of last year.
A limited number of representatives from the different Filipino community organizations based in Montreal and other parts of the province gathered on Saturday, 28 August 2021 to meet Ambassador Robles. Ambassador Robles was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III, First Secretary and Consul General Eric Aquino, and First Secretary and Consul Greg Marie Mariño.
Ambassador Robles expressed his appreciation for finally being able to meet the Filipino community in Montreal. He shared his advocacy of advancing the recognition of credentials of Filipino medical professionals in Canada and requested the participants to share their own insights in addressing this challenge which is common to all immigrants to Canada
Consul General Aquino and Consul Mariño briefed the attendees on the latest travel protocols to the Philippines and cultural activities, respectively.
