Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles welcomed the candidature of Fiilpino-Canadian France Stohner who is seeking to represent the district of Snowdon in the Montreal Borough of Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace (CDN-NDG) in the City Council of Montreal. Stohner was introduced to Ambassador Robles by Borough Mayor Sue Montgomery who is seeking re-election at local Montreal elections scheduled in November.
Stohner is one of two Filipino-Canadians seeking election to the City Council of Montreal. No Canadian of Filipino descent had been elected to the Montreal City Council in the past.
There is an estimated 38,000 Filipinos residing in the province of Quebec. The City of Montreal is home to approximately 36,000 Filipinos, most of whom reside in the Borough of Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace
