Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles spoke during the special meeting on 12 June 2012 of the Canada-Philippines Interparliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by MP Kevin Lamoureux, to commemorate the 123rd anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.

Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles joined a special meeting of the Canada-Philippines Interparliamentary Friendship Group convened on 12 June 2021 to commemorate the 123rd anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.

Chaired by MP Kevin Lamoureux who is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of Government in the House of Commons, the federal parliamentarians paid tribute to the contribution of the Filipino diaspora to Canada and congratulated the Philippines on another milestone in its history. The tributes were led by MP Lamoureux and the Vice Chairpersons of the Friendship Group, namely: MP Alice Wong (representing the Conservative Party), MP Leah Gazan (representing the New Democratic Party), MP Salma Zahid (representing the ruling Liberal Party), and Senator Yona Martin (representing the Senate of Canada).

The meeting recalled its pre-pandemic annual traditions which included the unfurling and raising of the Philippine flag on Parliament Hill initiated in 2013 by the late Filipino-Canadian Senator Tobias Enverga, Jr. who was represented in the meeting by his widow, Ms. Rosemer Enverga.
