PR 49 Repatriation of Canadians

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through its personnel in various Passport Offices outside of Metro Manila, provided travel assistance to Canadian citizens who have been stranded in the Philippines since the declaration of enhanced community quarantine to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The stranded Canadians travelled to designated provincial airports for feeder flights to Manila where they will take commercial flights of Philippine Airlines to Toronto and Vancouver requested by the Canadian Embassy in Manila and scheduled to depart on 14 April 2020.

Travel assistance to the stranded Canadians were likewise extended by personnel of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Additional commercial flights to Canada are expected to be arranged by the Canadian Government to accommodate the request by other Canadians who could not be accommodated in the two initial flights from Manila.

DFA has provided similar humanitarian travel assistance to stranded European travellers in the Philippines who were repatriated by their respective governments from Manila.
