The Filipino community in Halifax, the capital of the province of Nova Scotia on the Atlantic side of Canada, celebrated the 1st Filipino Heritage Month in Canada. With a population now reaching 3,400 in the province, the celebration started with a parade around Citadel Hill in the downtown area and was followed by a cultural program at the Halifax Forum. The cultural program included performances of traditional Filipino songs and dances and concluded with a concert by Filipino entertainers and bands in the maritime city.
