The Chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa was the venue for the elevation of the initial members of the Filipino community in Ottawa to the rank of knighthood in the Order of Knights of Rizal, a public corporation created by Republic Act No. 646. The knighting ceremony was jointly officiated by officials led by Eastern Canada Area Commander Sir James Dela Paz, with representatives from the Montreal Chapter and Mackenzie Central Chapter, headed by Chapter Commanders Sir Gerry Danzil and Sir Ramon Posadas, respectively.
