Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia welcomes the participants to the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar in Montreal
The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, led by Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia, conducted a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for leaders of Filipino organizations in Montreal by informing them of the rights of migrant workers, services offered by the Embassy, and creating awareness on human trafficking. The seminar was organized in cooperation with PINAY, a women-based Filipino community organization in Montreal.
The seminar was attended by 48 community leaders representing 17 Filipino organizations in Montreal. There are an estimated 35,000 Filipinos in the city of Montreal, which is the business capital of the province of French-speaking Quebec.
In her remarks, Ambassador Garcia enjoined the Filipino community leaders to share the information they received in the seminar with their members and friends in order to create awareness of the rights and benefits enjoyed by Filipino migrants in Quebec.
