 08 October 2018, Ottawa – Honorable Rodante Marcoleta, Member of the House of Representative, and his delegation, met with Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia at the Chancery. Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia briefed Congressman Marcoleta with the status of the Filipino Diaspora and OFWs in Canada. Both Ambassador Garcia and Congressman Marcoleta noted the growing number of Filipinos in Canada, numbering to more than nine hundred thousand in the latest survey, and their important contribution towards the strong multicultural fabric of Canadian society.

Ambassador Garcia also underscored the Embassy’s resolve to support institutional linkages between the executive and the legislative branches of Philippines and Canadian governments, and to maximize people-to-people exchanges, in order to strengthen Philippines-Canada bilateral relations. -end-
