In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine Heritage Foundation Canada donated to Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia a set of “Awit ng Makahiya at iba pang mga Katha,” a book by Filipino-Canadian Tony Gecolea which extolled the life and works of the national hero, among others. Witnessing the donation were staff of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and officials of the PHFC.

A reading of a poem in the book entitled “Rizal, Patawarin mo Kami” led by Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia and PHFC Chairperson Dr. Ruby Formoso and a community singing of the song “Awit kay Jose Rizal,” a PHFC original composition, followed the donation ceremony.

Ambassador Garcia and officials of the Philippine Heritage Foundation Canada at Sentro Rizal Ottawa where the donated books will be accessible to the public.
