Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia joined Ms. Beth Dela Cruz, President of JFC Philippine Brands Group – North America, in welcoming customers on the opening day of the Jollibee branch in Regina, its first in the province of Saskatchewan.
Jollibee is aggressively expanding its presence in Canada, home to almost one million Filipinos. Its branches have been mobbed by Filipino-Canadians who are eager to taste the food they have missed and introduce the iconic Filipino fast food to the younger generation of Filipino-Canadians.

Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia organized a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for leaders of various Filipino community organizations in Regina, Saskatchewan last 21 December 2019.
Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III, First Secretary Greg Marie Mariño, and First Secretary Jeffrey Salik provided information on the assistance-to-nationals, cultural, and economic diplomacy services offered by Philippine Foreign Service Posts in Canada.
There were 40 participants in the event, representing 15 different Filipino community organizations in Regina.
ECHO TRAINING FOR OVERSEAS VOTERS REGISTRATION PROVIDED TO EMBASSY PERSONNEL

The Embassy of the Philippines arranged an echo training for its personnel in relation to the resumption of overseas voters registration for the 2022 Philippine National Election. Attaché Alvin Conchas III facilitated the training.
The resumption of overseas voters registration commenced last 16 December 2019 and shall continue until 30 September 2021. All Filipino citizens overseas who shall be at least 18 years of age on the date of the national elections in May, 2022 are eligible to register as overseas voters with the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa or the Philippine Consulates General in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.
EMBASSY PROMOTES FINANCIAL LITERACY

Personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa attended a financial literacy seminar of ABC Life Literacy Canada delivered by TD Bank volunteers led by Mr. Agustin Infante and Ms. Judy Fong.
Canada commemorates Financial Literacy Month in November. The preparation of the seminar in November and its delivery soon thereafter was undertaken to support this financial literacy awareness program.
The seminar was the concluding training module of the Embassy’s Personnel Continuing Education Program (PCEP) for its staff.
