20 September 2017, Ottawa – Ambassador Petronila Garcia, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III and Second Secretary Jeffrey Salik, and the Heads of Mission of from Asia Pacific countries participated at the Asia Pacific Queen’s Ambassadors’ Forum held on 20 September, at the Official Residence of Ambassador Shinkai Korohail of Afghanistan.  Dr. Stephen Saideman, the Paterson Chair in International Affairs at the Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, led the discussions on Canada-US relationship in the context of Trudeau-Trump dynamic.

Prior to the forum, the Embassy of Afghanistan hosted a luncheon for Dr. Saideman, Professor Hok-Lin Leung of Queen’s University, and the Asia Pacific Group of Ambassadors.

The Queen’s Ambassadors’ Forum is the first major activity of the Asia Pacific Group of Ambassadors since Ambassador Garcia became the Dean of the Asia Pacific Group on 1 September 2017.

The Asia Pacific Group of Ambassadors regularly organizes fora on important economic and geo-political topics twice a year that are usually held in spring and in autumn.  The Group is composed of the heads of missions from nineteen countries in the Asia Pacific.  END.
