U.S. Ambassador David L. Cohen and PH Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria at the Embassy of the United States of America in Ottawa

22 June 2023, Ottawa. Philippine Ambassador to Canada Ma. Andrelita S. Austria met with U.S. Ambassador David L. Cohen at the Embassy of the United States of America on 22 June 2023 and had a candid conversation on many areas of mutual interest including their respective countries’ friendship with Canada.  

The two discussed the many facets of the Philippines-United States alliance including the growing cooperation between the two countries in humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

As Canada and the United States is home to two of the biggest Filipino diaspora communities, Ambassador Austria took the opportunity to share the Philippines’ overseas migration experience including its current campaign for credentials recognition of Filipino professionals in Canada. “One out of every 40 Canadians is of Filipino descent and the Philippine Embassy and Consulates-General in Canada are working to serve the diaspora as they continue to contribute to both societies,” according to Ambassador Austria.

Ambassador Cohen welcomed the exchange of experience and conveyed well wishes for Ambassador Austria’s tenure in Canada.

Ambassador Cohen is a native of New York and has been the United States Ambassador to Canada since 2021. END
