14-17 October 2018, Prince Edward Island (PEI) – Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia, together with the Heads of Mission and other Members of the Diplomatic Corps, attended the 2018 Economic Mission held at Prince Edward Island (PEI) hosted by the Global Affairs Canada.

The Economic Mission was an opportunity and an avenue to provide the diplomatic corps with an in-depth understanding of how PEI contributes to the Canadian Economy and what it has to offer to other countries. The visit also allowed participants to explore opportunities across multiple sectors including aerospace, agriculture and agri-food, biotechnology, higher education, sustainable energy, fisheries, advanced manufacturing and tourism.

PEI is one of eastern Canada's maritime provinces, off New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The large island is marked by red-sand beaches, lighthouses, and fertile farmland, and is renowned for seafood like lobster and mussels. Charlottetown, the capital, is home to Victorian government buildings and the modern Confederation Centre of the Arts, with a theatre and art gallery. PEI is also home to more than 700 Filipinos according to the 2016 survey of Statistics Canada.
